What are LEGO® toys?
LEGO® toys began to work Ole Kirk Christiansen, a Danish carpenter who lived in Billund. The wooden toys that Christiansen began to create in 1932 became the company LEGO in 1934, the name came from the Danish phrase foot Godt , which means "playing well". Christiansen took the first two letters from each word to create the name of the company. Today, LEGO ranks the sixth largest toy manufacturer in the world.
The basic element of the LEGO® building system is a brick that comes in different sizes and colors. The bricks are named after the number of round protruding connectors they have. With more than 900 million ways to combine only six of the eight -point bricks, it is clear that sets with a large number of bricks provide holes for an imaginative game and the ability to create models for which the instructions are given. The bricks are also easy to discuss to allow children to constantly reimaginate new things.
In his 2007 report, Lego announced that they earned 19 billion elementsannually, or about 36,000 every minute. All LEGO® bricks are manufactured in Denmark and also made by external suppliers, in a process that requires plastic heating at 449.6 ° Fahrenheit (232 ° C) and injection into molds. After about 7 seconds of cooling, the elements are released. It is estimated that the size of the elements in this process is within 7.87401575 × 10 -6 thumb (0.0002 mm). Only 18 elements in 1 000 000 fail to check quality control.
LEGO products are thematic models, both for typical adventure scenarios and for building, as well as linked to successful film and television franchises. The first type of themed model includes, among other things, LEGO® City, Racers, Pirates, Agors, Castle, Creator, Bionicle and Factory. The second type includes Squarepants®, Indiana Jones®, Star Wars®, Harry Potter®, Spiderman®, Batman®, Bob The Builder® and Thomas & Friends®.
In addition to building elements, LEGO has spread to other products and areasting. Now there are LEGO® games, books, bags, watches and clothing. With LEGO® To Factory Downloads, you can now design your own LEGO®, buy and assemble.
Lego also now has entertainment parks in Billund, Denmark, where it is headquarters, as in Windsor, England; Carlsbad, California; Günzberg, Germany; and Berlin, Germany. Parks have models built with millions of bricks, as well as family activities and attractions.
