What are the casts?

There are many types of plants and many others in the world today. Flowers and vegetables are a common look in gardens around the world, but sometimes there are plants that are surprising - plants that are not exactly what they seem to be on the outside. The Litops genus is one of the examples.

was discovered in 1811 by botanist William John Burchell, Lithops plants were a surprising finding from Africa. Burchell thought he had picked up a handful of clearly colored pebbles as he noticed that pebbles had roots. Plants resemble stones and it is from this fact that their name is derived. lithos is a Greek word that means stone, and opsis is a Greek word that means the face, the name of the genus means "face to face stone".

The plant, a close relative of cactus and succulent families, grows in small clusters near the ground. Although there is a large system of roots, there is small or no stem on Litop plants. The Leaves Thostina E looks like a small rock with a divisionin the middle. This division allows the plant to divide and also produce bright white flowers in the season. On its native southern hemisphere, the plant produces these flowers in the summer. In the northern hemisphere, however, a plant plant in winter.

are most often found in nature growing between gravel in sandy soil, Lithops also make quite well as house plants if certain conditions are met. In summer they require very little water and no water at all during winter. Plants are made extremely well in almost any kind of land. They also flourish in almost any type of solar exposure, from full sun to partial shadow. These plants are most common when they are planted in wide, shallow pots that best hold their root structure.

There are many subdivizes of the Lithops family. Most of these variations are easy to AVJE. Several species such as Lithops Francisci, LitHops Hermetica and Litops Werneri, the International Union for Nature (IUCN) is considered "vulnerable". One species, Litops Optica, is marked as "almost endangered". This may be due to the recent increase in interest in these plants and also by careless preservation of their natural habitats.

While the number of lithop growing with increasing rooms is growing, according to ICun, the number of wild samples decreases rapidly. This may be due to the fact that these plants must be grown from seeds or divided from older plants. Cuts are usually not worth it. It is not known whether the preservation of these wild desert plants is possible, but the disappearance of living stones is probably not in the near future.
