What are snake birds?

snake bird, or darter, is a large freshwater bird that inhabits lakes, ponds and bays of the subtropical and tropical regions of the North and South America. The males are glossy black, with blue or green gloss for feathers and white stripes on the back and wings, a long tapering account, a small head and a wide tail of white spikes. Females are more brown than black, with a lighter account.

When a snake bird floats mostly immersed, only with a long neck and a small, arunken head, it resembles a snake ready to strike. The snake bird is also known as American Anthing , which comes from Brazilian Tupi's word, which means snake bird or devilish bird. During flying, the body of snake birds can be cumbersome and is more suitable for climbing through the waving of the wings. In general, it does not migrate if it does not live on North or the southern extremes of its extent and rarely dares further north than the latitude of Carolinas in the United States every summer. Snake birds spend almost all day in the water. They prefer water and otevil spaces to watch predators.

Unlike ducks or penguins, snake bird has no waterproof feathers. This may be an advantage when it diverts, because its wet feathers become heavy and allow it to remain underwater for a long time in search of food. The snake bird uses its long account to spear its prey. When it appears, the bird throws the fish into the air and catches it and swallows them all.

After eating, the bird sits with the wings partially extended to the dry in the sun. During this time, the snake bird may have been prone to prey since then, while its feathers are wet. If the bird is endangered by a predator, the bird will boldly confront its attacker rather than escape.

During the nesting season, the snake bird becomes territorial and retreats from its herd, builds a nest of twigs and lined with green, leaf branches in a low bushes or high cypresses above the water. Two to six young people are born a couplesnake birds. Young birds grow rapidly by tan, which will then color. Adult snake birds feed on young regurgitation and sit in the nest with open mouth while the child digs food from the neck. A few snake birds will use the same nest for several seasons in a row.

Snake birds' populations, even if they are not officially estimated, are numerous and the extent is large. Nevertheless, they live in endangered ecological systems along with endangered species. Snake birds are protected under the Act on Migration Agreement on Birds of 1918.
