What is Barnacle Goose?

The Barnacle Goose or Branta Leucopsis is an Arctic type of goose that has its reproduction area in Greenland, Norway and northern Russia. This species usually migrates to England, Ireland and Scotland in winter or Germany and the Netherlands in the case of Russian birds. Barnacle geese usually have a black neck and a crown, a white face, gray hips, gray breasts and a black back. Both males and women of this species have the same features, although men can be larger than women.

These geese take their name from the medieval faith that have evolved from the Barnacles. Historians believe that this theory has evolved because medieval scientists did not understand the patterns of birds migration, and therefore sought an explanation of the sudden appearance of non -native bird species in some regions in winter. Because it was believed that Barnacle geese developed from Barnacles, medieval Europeans considered them a form of fish. Ton Barnacle Goose is therefore considered a foodstuff during the Lent when the meat could not be eaten.

BARNACLE Goose has a black crown andneck, with a white face reminiscent of a mask. They also have black feathers on their backs and black legs. The hips, breasts and hips of Barnacle goose are gray. Barnacle Goose also has a distinctive white rump.

In contrast to some other bird species, there is generally no recognizable difference in the brands between a man and a woman of this kind. Males are usually more robust than women and weigh about £ 4.83 (1.8 hp), while a woman usually weighs about £ 3.57 (1.6 hp). Men's barenacle goose can grow to a length of 27 inches (68.5 cm), while female barenacle usually reaches a maximum length of 23.5 inches (59.7 cm).

Barnacle Geese is an arctic bird. Their breeding grounds are mostly found by Greenland. Breeding grounds were also found in the muscles in Norway and on the Russian islands of the island of Vaygach and Novaya Zemlya. Barnacle geese usually form small nesting colonies on cliffs or between island cliffs. Often nest near gYR Falcons to protect themselves from Arctic foxes. One female goose can lay four to six eggs for reproduction periods.

These birds migrate to England, Scotland, Ireland, Germany and the Netherlands, where winter in mud flats, rivers, coastal marshes and grasslands of these regions. They feed on seeds, roots, leaves and stems.

While Barnacle's geese were seen in northeastern North America, they are not considered to be North American birds. No breeding lands have been found in North America, and in this region it is not considered part of their migration route. Some believe that Barnacle geese are only observed in North America when they escape from home captivity.
