What is Cork Tree?
Cork Tree is a genus or group of trees related to the family of citrus. They come from Asia, but are also found in Russia and the United States. These are usually medium -sized trees with peel -like cork, light color and dark berries. It is often confused with cork oak , but in fact it is not related to this sample and is not harvested for the production of cork slab. However, the bark of this tree is used to make dyes and in various medicines. It can also be expanded from 30 to 40 feet (9 to 12 m) to width. The tree trunk is usually wide and straight, with robust upper branches. At the end of summer, they tend to have brown spots and then gold in the autumn. Because this plant is deciduous, the leaves usually fall at the end of autumn and grow back to Spring every year.
At the end of summer, berries are usually formed on the tree. They normally occur just below the leaves. They are dark purple or black. The fruit is not normally harvested for human consumption, but it can eat it with birds and small wild animals.
The cork tree usually has white, cream or yellow flowers early in the spring. These flowers are usually less than 0.39 inches (1 cm) in diameter. They also have five small petals and are located on top of long green stems.
The bark of this ornamental plant is usually gray or light brown. Normally it has a very robust look and can even have deep vertical grooves on the trunk. The inside of the bark sometimes contains a yellow powder that can be used for a dying cloth or yarn.
different parts of this plant are often used in traditional Chinese medicine. The cortex and oil are sometimes used to treat stomach disorders, high blood pressure and to regulate the immune system. These plant extracts may also contain antibacterial and antifungal properties.
In the area of New England in the United States, Cork Tree is considered an invasive species. This is because it often suppresses growthNative hard woods such as maple and ashes. People who are considering planting one of these types of plants might want to consider whether this could damage the native vegetation in this area.
