What is a gel farm?

For years, ants have been amazing educational toys for children aged 5 years and more. Following the behavioral characteristics of ants in their native environment is a fascinating study for children and adults. The Ant Farm was traditionally located in a thin plastic case filled with dirt, which simulated the natural environment of the ants. However, this traditional Ant Farm is quickly replaced by a gel farm. Unlike the classic farm filled with ants, a gel farm, it requires much less work, so observers can freely follow science at work without much effort or maintenance on the Ant Gel colony. No watering or feeding is required - the gel contains all the nutrients and moisture that the ants must survive. For this reason, ants are perceived as easy pets and are a popular gift for birthdays and other special occasions.

as well as old old farms, and many newerGel farms can be connected by means of tubes to create a larger ant community. Included gel rich in nutrients is usually tinted blue or green. Some gel farms also include bases that help see tunnels that ants construct even better. The illuminated Ant Farm gel can also double as an interesting night light for an older child that is too old for night light, but which is still not quite comfortable with complete darkness.

6 The tunnel begins when ants are added to the gel. Once the ants are added, they immediately build a colony. After several weeks, tunnels are usually available for observation and study. Some gel farms include magnifying glass, which provides even closer look like ants of Burrow and expand their colony.

Depending on the time of year, the Ant Farm is ordered, ants may or may not be included. Extreme temperatures can kill ants. If ants are not initially sent with Ant Farm, they are includedOrdering instructions that determine when ants will be available and how to order them. Ant Farm Gel is an excellent tool for introducing young children to science, which also provides means for exploring and learning about other ecosystem sites.
