What is a geodetic greenhouse?

The

geodetic greenhouse is a structure normally designed in the form of a dome and built of polygonal segments that evenly distribute the light to the plants that are located inside. Building material may vary according to the builder's preferences, from polyvinyl chloride or PVC to natural wood. The spherical building is based on the concept of "Geodesic Dome", patented by R. Buckminster Fuller.

Many gardeners prefer greenhouse geodetic design for its aesthetic attraction and also for its functionality. Like other types of greenhouses, the geodetic model creates a warmer atmosphere in the air and the soil that plants occupy. The geodetic design allows this to appear by capturing light energy and heat in the greenhouse without allowing the outdoor cold to penetrate.

vinyl is usually used as a covering material of a geodetic greenhouse. The standard frame often consists of galvanized steel pipes arranged in a polygonal plate. However, several others can also be used for the structureMaterials including PVC tube, various types of wood, bamboo or other types of metal. Depending on the materials used with the greenhouse dome, it can range from mild costs to expensive.

In the construction of a geodetic greenhouse, many people decided to tetrahedron design. This standard outline consists of triangular pieces that not only provide light but also a strong frame for the dome. The geodetic greenhouse floor is often made of treated wood or gravel. Ordinary dirt is another popular flooring material.

The advantages of a geodetic greenhouse are similar to the benefits of other greenhouses. People who live in areas with short vegetation periods can expand the lives of their plants. This can mean the difference between the ability to grow enough food to feed your family or not. Unlike other types of greenhouses, the geodesic model may be more economical because often requires less constructionmaterials.

lacks the need for support rays or other larger structures of the support interior, the geodetic shape is also an ideal use of space. It can provide maximum internal area with minimal materials. Because domes are usually very light, it is also easier to move in the yard or even a new location than a typical greenhouse.

The disadvantages of this greenhouse structure class include the fact that the equipment of the geodetic greenhouse can be a difficult task due to its spherical design. Another disadvantage of the geodetic greenhouse is the lack of builders with knowledge or experience with structures. The assembly of the dome is a relatively simple process, but since most buildings are rectangular or square, many carpenters may not know how to build a dome and thus require more research by the builder.
