What is Hutia?
Hutia is a large rodent from the Caribbean islands. Hutias are classified in the Capromyidae family and can be found in many genera. At least 26 types of hutia were identified, most of which were classified as extinct. Many living hutia species are considered to be endangered or endangered due to the destruction and predation of habitats. Visitors to the Caribbean often do not see the hutias because they are extremely shy, but several zoos are kept by colonies of these animals that can be perceived for people who are interested. Like other poisons, Hutias have very hard bodies and large heads and their tails are usually short and stubborn. Most hutia are herbivores, eating plants and plant material, although some will consume small insects and other small mammals and nest under the ground in layers that can be attracted by plant material for shelter and insulation. This is far from the now balanced giant hutia that could reach the size of the bear. GiantHutias once used a source of food, as one can imagine well, and seems to have disappeared as a result of human predation.
Like other mammals, Hutia Bears Live Young, with mother nursing and young care until they are mature enough to come across the world. Most of the smelters are brownish to gray color, with pale lower sides and darker back to mask them from predators, and are generally night. Their night habits allow them to protect against predators and also hide from the day of the day, which can be intense in the Caribbean.
Hutias is threatened by the destruction of their natural habitat in the Caribbean for agriculture and building houses, and some communities also hunt them as a source of food. Hutia meat is particularly popular in Cuba, where it is often steamed and presented with spicy sauces. Some biologists are working on maintaining existing hutia species and indicating specific areas aso Reserves for the use of hutia and other endangered animals and in the case of species that have been classified as endangered, killing or selling hutias can be punished by a fine.
