What is a rattan palm?

rattan palm is a type of climbing vine, which is originally from Southeast Asia. There are more than 300 known species of this strong, flexible and fast -growing palm. Some varieties of rattan palms are a fruit bearing and can grow to almost 600 feet (180 m). The rattan palm is harvested in parts of Asia to take objects such as baskets, mats, cages, traps and ropes. Rattan palm materials are also used to produce products such as chairs seats, furniture, umbrella handles and walking. These palms are connected to other plants and trees using spines in the shape of a hook. The leaves of this palm are often consumed as vegetables in some cultures. Most of the rattan palms are found in Indonesia, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and the Philippines.

The vine stems are known worldwide for their strength and flexibility. The Rattapalm stem is usually processed into raw materials that are used in a wide range of furniture applications. The outer leather of the stem is usually removed and used as a taskThe substance, although the whole stem is often divided and is used to produce wicker baptismal seats and baskets. In some applications, the stem is left intact for the production of handles or sticks.

In addition to the many uses of furniture, Rattan Wood is also used to make bumper mounts for musical instruments such as Vibraphone and Xylophone. Some varieties of rattan fruit produce red -colored resin, which is often referred to as dragon blood. This resin has believed that it holds certain healing properties with ancient Roman, Greek and Arab civilizations. This resin is sometimes used as a wooden spot and usually produces a light peach color when applied to wood.

Some countries use rattanuvying tools used in the form of bodily punishment known as Caning. In this type of punishment, a rattan stick is soaked in water before use to increase its weight andflexibility. Singapore military forces also use Ratan's sticks to punish disobedient soldiers. The thinner version of this cane is used for body punishment by schools in Malaysia, Singapore and a number of African countries.

The Scientific Research Team in Italy conducted experiments using rattan wood to produce artificial bone material. In this process, a small amount of rattan palm wood is combined with calcium, carbon and phosphate and then heated and under pressure in a special type of furnace to form bone material. This new material was clinically tested in sheep without creating any side effects. These scientists hope that in the near future they will start clinical evaluation in humans.
