What is the teddy hamster?

, also called gold hamster, teddy bear hamster is a type of Syrian hamster, rodent with short tail, common for pet shops. These hamsters are desirable especially for their fresh coats. The scientific name of the teddy bear is MesocRRCRUS auratus .

The most common type of hamster maintained as a pet is a golden hamster. Their upright rounded ears, inflated faces and small dark eyes give them a superficial resemblance to the teddy bear. These hamsters usually on average about 5 inches (12.7 cm) long, but their fluffy, 1-2 inches (2.54-5 cm) long coats increase their overall size. They have lived from teddy bear hamsters for about two to three years.

Although hamsters themselves, occasional brushing may be needed to remove difficult tangle. A toothbrush can be used as a brush. Hamsters should always be treated gently and are prone to bites or nip, not if often socialized from an early age.when they are placed with other hamsters. They can be placed in different environments, including plastic and glass, but must have enough space to exercise. Teddy Bear Hamsters are also susceptible to Malocclusion or ZoState teeth. Provision of hamster chewing blocks and high quality food is essential to allow teeth to wear before they overgrown. If the condition can manifest, teeth can grow so long that the hamster can no longer eat properly.

mites are also a common problem with a teddy bear hamster. Owners who find their hamster contaminated with mites should take it to the veterinarian for prescription miticides. Load linen should also be changed and housing is thoroughly cleaned before returning the hamster into its environment.
