What is Zamboni?

and Zamboni is a machine used in ice skating rinks to smooth and clean the ice surface. While Zamboni® is a registered trade name, the general term is "ICE resurFacer", the term is usually used to describe any such machine, like band-aid for adhesive bandage. The first ResurFacer ice was created in 1949 by Frank J. Zamboni. The most important part of Zamboni® is called a conditioner and stretches behind the vehicle. It consists of a large blade that scratches the surface of ice, and two snails that collect shavings and transport them to the machine.

After scratching the surface, the conditioner sprayed water over the ice and recirculates it with a vacuum hose. Finally, Zamboni® applies clean water with a towel to make the Smoo Staleth surface. Usually, hot water is used for this step because it is used to melt the surface and re -re -, causing increased smoothness.

SLAbost Zamboni® is that it is not ideal for cleaning and smoothing the ice at the ice rink itself, as it can be dangerous to drive the machine directly against the ice rink. Ice Edger is another tool that uses to clean excess ice from the edges of the ice rink and to make the surface smooth. Some recovery also have a brush on the board, which is expanded to clean the free LED under the board running surrounding the ice rink. Ice Edger can still be used after Zamboni® with a board brush, but its work will be much easier. Newer models have another blade attached to the conditioner for cleaning the rink edges along with the main surface.

There is also a newer, more sophisticated ice resurfacing technology, but it is not widely used because of their costs and adequate design of the original machine. These added functions include the master spray such as the final step of resurfacing, the replacement of water and the fabric and the laser -guided blade.
