What is a shot?

Shot Clock is a device that was created in 1954 in an effort to speed up the game of basketball. In the National Basketball Association (NBA) there are a shot clock and have always been 24 seconds, while time differs at other levels of basketball. The shot clock is the time the team with the ball must try to shoot on the basket. If the shot does not attempt before the shot expires, it is considered to be a violation of the clock and the ball is transferred to the defensive team. To avoid breaking the shot of the shot, the shot must be from the hand of the offensive player before the sound of the buzzer and must at least hit the rim to be considered an attempt.

The introduction of the shot has forever changed the NBA. Before 1954, games with low scores were common-the lowest victory of 19-18 from Fort Wayne Pistons over Minneapolis Lakers in 1950. Once the team got into the game, often held the ball and standing while the game Clock ran. In 1954-55, the first season of Shot Clock, the overall scoring increased by more than 27 points per game. Boston Celtics made the history of NBA averageem more than 100 points per game. In 1958-59, each team in the league was on average 100 points per game.

Apparently any number of 24 seconds actually came from a mathematical formula created by the owner of Syracus Nationals Danny Biasone. Biasone took an average of 60 attempts to go to the team-or 120 to Hru-A in the game divided them for 48 minutes. Twenty -four seconds were the average time to attempt a shot.

Shoot Clock has not been implemented in men's university basketball until 1986, starting with 40 seconds and in 1993 to 35. Female basketball used 30 -second shots from 1970, and women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) changed their shots from 30 seconds to 2006 season. play.
