What is ammonium nitrate fertilizer?
The fertilizer of ammonium nitrate is an industrially produced chemical fertilizer. It has a chemical formula NH 4 sut> not 3 sub> and is used primarily to increase the nitrogen content in the soil. This type of fertilizer is usually sold in granular form, although other preparations and combinations are possible. It is usually cheap, but can be difficult to obtain because it can be used as a folder in creating improvised explosives, and therefore in some areas is subject to regulation.
Standard fertilizer is evaluated with a number of three numbers, indicating the concentration of the three most important nutrients of the plant in fertilizer. The first number indicates the percentage of the mixture, the second number, the percentage of phosphorus and the third number, the percentage of potassium. Ammonium nitrate fertilizers contain a very high percentage of nitrogen and have a rating of 34-0-0, indicating that if they are fertilizer only ammonium nitrate, it will consist of 34% nitrogen.
The production of ammonium nitrate fertilizer is a complicated process. Ammonia, one of the keyEducation of the building blocks, the gas is at room temperature and this gas must be combined with nitric acid to form ammonium nitrate fertilizer. The final product of this reaction is a solid whitish substance, ammonium nitrate, which is relatively stable, safe and easy to work with. This chemical engineering process, although difficult, can be easily and cheaply adapted to very extensive production, which means that the fertilizer of ammonium nitrate is actually quite cheap.
Correct use of ammonium nitrate fertilizer requires the assessment of the properties of plants and soil to which it will be applied. Ammonium nitrate can then be applied in sufficient amount to maintain the level of nitrogen plants, often grosly or fruit trees to which it is applied. This fertilizer is sufficiently cheap and safe to be used in large quantities and on large areas. Plants that have been successfully fertilized by nitrateAmmonium, usually intensively grow and show a healthier and greener color, because nitrogen is critical in allowing photosynthesis.
The most important disadvantage of ammonium nitrate fertilizer, in addition to the relatively complicated production process, is its occasional use as an improvised explosive. It is one component of a very popular type of domestic explosive, diversity used in a bomb attack on Oklahoma City from 1995. This potential for abuse has led to fertilizer regulation in some regions, despite its expanded use in ranch and agriculture.
