What is aqueduct?

aqueduct is an artificial channel through which the water is transmitted from one place to another. Aqueducts can be made of many different types of materials such as brick, concrete, metal or wood, and constructed in different ways, such as tunnels, channels or bridges. The aqueduct can transport a small amount of water and also a sufficiently large amount that can be transported by a vessel and water can be moved by pumps or simply gravity.

The main use of aqueduct is to transport clean water on a large population of people, for example in the city, but also used to irrigate crops where small or no water is naturally occurring. Another use of aqueduct is for transport, as they can allow large boats to pass through difficult terrain such as valleys and gorges. There are also side advantages for the use of aqueducts, for example, they can help control floods.

It is not known when or where the first aqueducts were built, but many of them still remain from ancient times. Most remarkably inThe city of Rome, some aqueducts still standing, and those that were once in operation were used to transport millions of gallons of water throughout the Roman colony every day. Other ancient cities that used aqueduct were Jerusalem and Athens. In the second city there was an aqueduct that was a tunnel and was 4200 feet hand and bored. In a newer history, London built his first aqueduct in 1609-38 miles long rivers, which brought water to the growing population of the city.

aqueducts are still used to this day, but most of them are designed from pipes and other materials. In New York in 1842, the aqueduct used iron pipes to transport water through the Harlem River through the Viaduct. Other similar large aqueducts followed in various cities around the world, especially throughout the Britain.
