What is the bass violin?
Based violin, also known as Violone, is a large, stringed instrument played with a bow. This instrument was the forerunner of modern cello. The creators of the instruments designed the bass violin as part of the larger Viola da Bracio family.
originally the term "viola" meant "string tool". Violino or violin was a "little viola". Violone, on the other hand, was a "big viola". When people developed the Viola da Braccio family as they referred to cellones, they meant the largest instrument of the string family. Cello literally means "small big viola", which suggests that Violintello was bigger than violins and viola, but not as big as Violone.
The first version of the bass violin appeared in the 16th and 17th centuries. They had three strings, but later four chains became standard. The general method was to tune in chains for fifths. The body of the instrument was hollow, which provided resonance when the players pulled the bow of the district.
The current cello sounds one octave under Viola. Bass violin, compared to, they were bothCne-tuned by one playground lower than this, with the lowest chain being on the B-Flat instead of C.
bass violins are no longer standard in the violin family. The bass violin looked partially kind, because music became more complex and demanding tools that were easier to play. The smaller size of the violintel compared to the bass violin allowed greater virtuosity, because the cello was easier to stand on the body and allowing the fingers to move. Modern double bass has replaced the bass violin, but because Violone technically means "big viola", some people refer to the double basso bass violin.
Most contemporary performances using a real bass violin focus on the period repertoire. Players generally have extensive knowledge of the differences between modern cello and bass violin. This knowledge allows players to perform rePeroar with a high degree of authenticity.
In particular, the real bass violin tends to have a shorter neck and a fingerboard compared to cello. The neck and fingerboard on bass violins are also not so curved. The bridge is also lower and the strings are slightly stronger and not so stretched. These differences mean that the sound of bass violin is not as clear as the sound of a cello and that the bass violins are not as sensitive either.
