What is Butia?

Butia is the name of the genus for nine different types of palm trees. They are most common in South America, but due to their hardness against drought and cold, they can also be found in gardens and worldwide. They differ in height, from small, without stems to higher species, but most of them produce the abundance of edible fruit. In general, their leaves are similar to feathers, although some also have a sharp spine.
