What is Formononetin?

Formonenetin is a phytochemist who is known as a flavonoid. It belongs to a subgroup of flavonoids known as isoflavones . Located in red clover and other plants. This compound is a weak phytoestrogen, which means that it can bind to receptors that bind the estrogen female hormone. Having phytoestrogens in a person's diet is usually considered beneficial. This causes a number of biological effects. When the phytoestrogen binds to the receptor, estrogen can block the binding. This may result in anti -cancer effects on cancer caused by estrogen binding, such as breast cancer. Sometimes, however, the binding can activate estrogen receptors and formonetin has activated cancer cells in laboratory tests.

Estrogen production decreases dramatically in menopause, leading to symptoms such as hot flashes. Traditionally, synthetic estrogen was used to treat these symptoms. It turned out that serious side effects have been shown. Many people turned to herbal treatment to treatSymptoms of menopause because they seem safer. Black Cohosh is one of such herbal treatments. It has been reported that it contains formononetin, but scientists were unable to find this compound in any preparation of this herb.

Formonetin is converted into a much more effective phytoestrogen in the stomachs of cattle and sheep. This is Isoflavon known as Equol . This transformation occurs due to the activities of bacteria in the stomachs of these animals.

is not a typical isoflavone, formonetin has a methyl group attached to the oxygen atom on the molecule. It can be stored as a molecule known as glucoside . This shows that sugar is attached to the molecule, so it is more soluble in the water. It can therefore be stored in cells at a higher concentration. Theglucoside formononetin is known as ononin .

Compounds based on isoflavone structure are known as isoflavonoids . RoleStrins have a variety of isoflavonoid compounds. It is estimated that there are more than 1600 different compounds in a large number of plants. Formonetin is an important molecule in the early steps of the synthesis of many of these plant compounds. These molecules are not part of the primary metabolism of the plant and are therefore known as secondary compounds.

Formonentin is also important in the interaction of fungi that help to survive the plants. There are fungi known as mycorrhizae that live in the soil and have a symbiotic connection with specific roots of plants. They provide nutrients to plants and help with water absorption and the plants provide them with carbon. In some cases, these fungi help protect plants from pathogenic organisms. Formononetine stimulates the disputes of some types of mycorrhizal mushrooms to germinate.
