What is Muay Boran?
Muay Boran is an older, more traditional forerunner of modern Muay Thai or Thai boxing. Muay Boran is usually translated simply as an ancient box and contains a number of regional styles such as Muay Chaiya, Muay Korath, Muay Lopburi and Muay Thasao. Although it is an ancient style, Muay Boran is still widely practiced in Thailand. Muay Boran was greatly introduced in the popular Hollywood film ong Bak. This has led to sudden interest in art, especially in the West, where it is practiced and taught in small schools in both the United States and the UK. Most remarkably, Muay Thai Fighters wears gloves and are subject to a relatively thick range of rules. Although even more free information than a real western box, at the end of the 30th year many Thai people considered Muay Thai too limited, so it began to concentrate on maintaining more ancient style of fighting.
muay boran is also sometimes referred to as bound combat bOJ because he doesn't use gloves. Instead, the cannabis is around the fingers and wrists. This allowed hard blows, but protected relatively fine joints of the wrist and fingers to avoid breaking so often. Historically, the fighters immersed their hands in the water before the fight, allowing the binding to harden and produce stunning strikes. It is said that some warriors would even immerse their hands in resin and broken glass, even though it is not visible today.
Many rules developed for Muay Thai were created to protect warriors from serious injury and death. Muay Boran does not have these protection, so it is as freer and much more dangerous. As a result, it is rare to see the main combat academy in Thailand, which teaches Muay Boran, and usually learns one on one with a tough. Some schools say they teach Muay Boran, but in fact they only teach the finer Muay thai under the ancient name.
In Muay Boran, several techniques are allowed that can cause serious physical damage. The whole body is a permissible goal that includesE weak, opens the possibility of serious injury. Knee strikes that can cause internal damage or break the limbs. Heads are also allowed, which can cause shocks or serious bone damage in contact.
While Muay Thai is conceived much more like a sport, with strict rules and physical protection, Muay Boran is a much brutal style of fighting. Emphasis in Muay Boran is a quick, harsh attacks and energy economics. Each attack looks at the payout of physical damage for used energy. As a result, knees and elbows play a big role in Muay Boran because they are able to cause serious damage with minimal power. At the same time, Muay Boran is an energy and beautiful Martial Art that you can watch, and Muay Boran exhibitions have become relatively common at Muay Thai Events.
