What is Przewalski's horse?

In 1881, Nikolai Przewalski traveled to the steppes of Mongolia to put the rumors of wild horses to rest. He found truly wild horses who were never domesticated, which was horse -drawn to the man who appeared them became known as Przewalski's horse. This horse is not genetically identical to modern domesticated horses, but is obviously related. Many modern horses, such as the Norwegian fjord horses, share apparent qualities with Przewalskis, suggesting that horses can be lively ancestors of modern horses. They were captured for food initially and then used for driving and work. It is likely that more species of wild horse were abundant at once, but that human actions selected for the most obedient and easily domesticated species, resulting in the extinction of other wild horses. Przewalski represents an important genetic bond in human and equushistoria E and scientists studied horses in an effort to learn more about the domestication of the horse.

When the first discovered horse przewalski was discovered, several foals were captured and used to create small breeding stocks in captivity. Initially, these attempts were unsuccessful and the horse proved to be difficult to keep in captivity until it was improved in the early twentieth century breeding and breeding foals. Although it was primarily done to create an interesting exhibition for the zoo and private collections, it could have saved the breed from extinction, because the breed disappeared shortly after it was discovered; The last wild przewalski horse was documented at the age of 60.

It could have been the end of the story for Przewalski, except that the Dutch trio feared the survival of the breed, and created the basis for its preservation and protection in 1977. The base was to connect the zoo with the surviving populations of the horse and create a stable breeding program to save the breed. After a focused effort, a small shipment of Horses Przewalski was sent to Mongolia in 1992 and released in a nature reserve.

przewalski horses show their relationship to modern horses in their appearance. It is superficially similar to very stocky, bright color. Horses have yellow coats with dark masts and tails, highlighted with a dark back stripe that runs up to the back and striped legs. The rush of this breed of the horse is in a vertical position and lacks the front. Also, despite the genetic differences between the Przewalski horse and the modern domesticated horse, they are both able to interleave and educate offspring. For this reason, it is classified as a subspecies of modern horse, rather than its own species.
