What is pyrite?

pyrite, also called fool, is a clear gold mineral that contains a mixture of iron and sulfur. Located all over the world and sulfur it contains, it has been historically extracted for various industrial processes. Stone Ob origin of the name of the stone is Greek; Pyrite means "fiery stone" and is a reference to its ancient use to start fires by intervening against another rock to create sparks.

This mineral has a metal shine and a distinctive crystalline structure. Some pyrites come in other shapes such as wheels, but the most common form resembles a disordered pile of crystals with thin lines or stripes along their faces. The pyrite is very fragile and easily breaks along the crystal joints. Unlike gold, this is not feasible. Iron is approximately 46%of the mineral, with the rest of sulfur and trace impurities such as gold, nickel, arsenic and copper.

pyrite has several interesting features: except forThe creation of sparks can make the mineral a weak current. Although it is mainly an ornamental curiosity, it is sometimes used commercially. Pyrite can be chemically treated industrially to extraction of Sir and watch minerals like gold and copper. This chemical treatment is very pollutant, so most mining companies with a more prepared approach to individual minerals avoid its use.

other minerals, such as quartz, galena, fluorite, calcite and gold, often occur in close proximity to the pyrite, which is sometimes used as an indicator of stone for these other minerals. It is very common in sedimentary rocks, ore deposits and around hydrothermal deposits, where heat and pressure could combine strength and iron. Although pyrite is common around the world, it is particularly widespread on the US Midwest, South Africa, Eastern Europe and Peru.

Most rock stores carry small pieces of pyrite and some jewelry are made and sometimes there are also larger pieces of minan eral. It can do an interesting body weight or an entertaining gift for a obsessed cash child. Many Rock Collectors also enjoy collecting particularly striking samples with well -created crystals or interesting shapes.
