What is the spoken word?
The spoken word is an art form that has long been present in human society. Oral traditions in cultures precede the written word and poems, or the kind of spoken singing or stories, sometimes accompanied by music, held many audiences far before the first book was written. Although the books were available, Troubadours and Balladeers often spoke of adventure, romance, tragedy and comedy to a wide audience, because reading was not a common success.
Today, the spoken word applies to two separate artistic forms. One is entirely based on recorded words, such as reading novels or recitation of poetry, which gives us modern "books on tape". The art form in its second definition concerns these events when poets and sometimes comics or social commentators recite or invent poems, comments, jokes and like the performance for the audience. The second type results from the oral traditions took place in many cultures. Usually beatEven poets, not necessarily famous, recited their poems with music playing in the background. However, emphasis was on words rather than music, although the poet could phrase time to coincide with certain parts of the musical performance. Music could be alive or recorded depending on the poet.
This tradition has led to a small mockery, and some claim that participants and fans took it too seriously. Sure, as with all the genres of poetry, there were written and some bad poems were written. Among the very valuable and poets who grew up from the generation of rhythm are also Mayo Angela, which critics quote as one of the most experienced in recit of their work, because its rihlas and phrasing lend resonance and depth of her work.
spoken word had a few adherents in the middle of the 70s, but the interest in the form reappeared in the 80's. Part of this was caused by the variant of the performance of the spoken word inhip-hop and rap. Much of what the rap artists did was the performance of poetry with a musical background and specific types of phrasing and resonance. Music fans and literary analysts have evaluated and continued to evaluate the poetry of many rap artists and called many of these artists intensely important contributors to the world of poetry.
Thespoken word rhythm, often set to jazz, and sometimes including other aspects of performance, such as images or images, reappeared as a popular form along with rap. Another growth of the spoken word was Slam's poetry, where the poets competed against each other, often exventonally. Slam poetry has its roots in Japanese competitions of this type, such as the beginning and end of Waka, a poetic form that existed in the 10th century.
In another sense, however, the spoken word does not necessarily include poetry and never came out of fashion. It can be a recitation of stories, a solo comedy act, or a narrator's performance. There are no hard and fast rules for an artistic form, aTherefore, you will find many different names with a form of many different names. Robin Williams is the same master of this form of literary art as Allen Ginsberg or Patti Smith.
