What is Rohs?

ROHS is an abbreviation to reduce hazardous substances, instructions first established by the European Union in 2002. In 2007, Rohs becomes a law in all EU countries and reduces the use and liquidation of products containing mercury, Cadmium, hexavalent chrome, polybrominated diphenyl and the most important Diphenyl, Diphenyl and the most important. In addition, the Rohs will follow the instructions in trading in other countries and buy any products containing more than 0.1% of these substances.

Not all materials containing these substances are prohibited in the text of the Rohs. The instructions for the purchase and disposal of materials apply specifically to lighting, computer and IT equipment, household appliances, toys and sports equipment. Especially for household equipment, lighting and toys, liquidation will depend on consumers' compliance and will be more difficult to regulate. Specific instructions for disposed of materials are included in another document, Weee or Electric and Electronic Wasteof the sizes.

For one purpose, ROHS is to remove toxic substances from unprotected waste areas where they can pollute drinking water and air supply. Sometimes it is called the "lead law", Rohs particularly concerns the level of lead that appears in the offer of drinking. The high level of lead exposure can lead to hearing problems, reducing IQ and damage to the nervous system. Small children are particularly at risk, but even in adults lead poisoning can lead to kidney damage, abdominal pain and convulsions, seizures, coma and death.

The

requirement for manufacturers to find substitution for components containing these substances, hopes to maintain a "green" environment. Although intentions are admirable, some remarkable exceptions to the use of these chemical are the cause of concern among stricter environmentalists. Ceramic equipment, solders with high melting and glass in fluorescent tubes contain lead and are liberated from the rules. Some lamMercury -containing posts are also exempt from European instructions, as well as mercury -containing batteries.

Because Rohs require companies to trade Europe to follow these instructions, many other countries adopt their own ROHS standards. California is the first state in the US to adopted the law of the Rohs. The Chinese law is by far the most rigid and allows very few exceptions. Given that its growing economy makes trading with China so advantageous, Chinese Rohs can eventually change the standards and exceptions of the Rohs set in other countries.

All companies bound ROHS standards or trading in countries employing them are now facing the task of following these instructions. In return, the whole industry grew up around the task of helping society to become new laws. Some production must be completely re -evaluated in order to exclude the use of certain chemicals, and testing of safer chemicals is being tested to replace the existing dangerous. In every country, the adoption of the Rohs is the environmental -friendly thinking procedure and a step forward to make the world a little safer for all of us.
