What is ayu?

AYU is a kind of fish that is the only member of the Plecoglossidae family. It is located in lakes and rivers and coastal areas all over Japan, China and Tai -wan. AYU is sometimes known as sweet fishing thanks to its sweet tasting. His diet consists mainly of algae and small animals, including insects and worms. Due to its popularity as a source of food, the fish is kept in large numbers for commercial reasons and it is a very popular fish. In this case, the fish move between salt and fresh water during their lives, but do not do so to behave. Therefore, fish can be commonly found in lakes and coastal areas. The fish will usually live for only one year, and therefore it is also known as an annual fish. But there are some Ayu fish that survive longer than this.

The fish comes from the Palaearctic zone, which is one of the eight zones of the ground. This zone is the largest of these eight and includes certain regions of Europe and Asia, including the Himalayas. Along with these regions, fish are also found in more southern areas such as Korean POloostrov and Tai -wan. During the friction period that occurs in the spring, adult fish travels from the coastal regions to the river. The larvae that is created during this time then travels back straight to the sea before the cycle starts again.

Ayu are Omnivoči, which means that both plants and other animals eat. Due to the small size of fish, they usually feed on small insects and water mushrooms. Plant foods consumed with fish consist mainly of algae. Algae include a number of different types of underwater plants including seaweed and sea sponge.

In East Asia, Ayu fish is a popular food of its sweet tasting meat. Although the fish are managed in large quantities, they are also caught by local fishermen and women who use techniques such as fly fishing and catching. Some fishermen in Japan also use Cormorant fishing to capture AYU - techniques using a cormorary bird to catch the fish and then store it in the beak before it gives them fishermen.
