What is Titan Arum?
Titan Arum ( amorphophallus titanum ) is a plant with the largest flowering structure in the world. Its inflorescence is made up of many small flowers on spadix, surrounded by spathe , both types of spikes, causing the related lily Calla in the shape. Titan ARUM can reach a height of almost ten feet (3 m). It is originally from the rainforests of Sumatran in Indonesia, but elsewhere it cultivated. Titan Arum was discovered by the Italian botanist by Beccari in 1878. The upper, visible part is covered with pollen, while the lower part is covered with bright orange Carpels , the female reproductive organ. Spathe is green and reddish-violet on the outside. Titan Arum is one of the plants nicknamed "Corps Flower" because it radiates the smell of rotting meat to attract the fly and pollinators of beetles. The dark red color of the also plant simulates dead meat and the tip of the padix is close to the temperature of the human body when it blooms, which further attracts insects carrion.

The only huge, umbrella leaf germ from the root of the plant after the flower died. It can reach up to 20 feet (6 m) in height, with a span of 16 feet (5 m). The leaves of the Titan Arum in captivity grow only to about 12 feet (3.6 m). The leaf is exchanged every year until the plant saves enough energy to bloom again. At this point, the plant becomes sleeping for four months before the re -flowering.
TheTitan Arum plants were first grown in captivity in the royal botanical gardens in Kew, Londovin, in 1889. Since then, about 100 plants have been grown, including some in the United States and Germany.
