Why is the sound of nails on the board so irritating?
There are few natural sounds that irritated that the nails on the board, with a possible exception of foam cups that wipe together, a sliding door hinge or dentist's drill. It seems that what distinguishes the sound of nails from other irritating substances is obvious versatility. Few people living on the planet can avoid crushing in agony when a tall scratched scratch begins and everyone is relieved when the event ended. No one can say with scientific certainty why the sound is so incredibly irritating, but there are a number of interesting theories.
Some believe that the sound is similar to the eccentric cross of the animal, indicating the danger to the rest of its group. For example, Makaka monkeys make a warning noise of a relatively same playground and the duration of the dreaded nails on the sound of the board. It has been proposed that people instinctively respond to sound and create a reaction of "fighting or flight".
The theories say that the sound of the nail on the board is similar to the scratching sound of rocks against the teeth. The scratching sounds are the horizonIrritating vlars because they remind us of a painful dental experience or an unpleasant feeling of biting on a piece of rock or metal. The sound of scratches is created by nails alternatively by sliding against and gripping the coarse surface of the board. Experiments carried out by scratching the garden tool against the board have shown that lower noise frequencies were particularly annoying.
In a similar vein, some of them have theorized that it is not a sound, it is the action itself. Anyone who has ever scratched their nails against the board will probably not forget the experience. When the fingers stretch over the rough surface of the board, a number of nerve endings are stimulated and not necessarily on the waywhew. When people hear the sound, it is very likely that they will have a nice reaction and identify with discomfort accompanying sound.
Sometimes it is a question of harmony versus disharmon, the auditorily. Many people are very sensitive to changes in the playground or frequency. For example, a guitar with a single chain of melody can disrupt the entire performance. For some reason, attention signals are often irritating. The emergency signal has been denunated to excel from normal background sounds. The final irritating and expanded harmonious is most likely the sound generated by the nails on the blackboard. There is nothing remotely harmonious about the stain, abrasive sound, so we react strongly whenever we are forced to hear it.
