What is Situs solitus?

Situs solitus is a medical term that suggests that all abdominal and thoracic organs are in their expected positions and are properly oriented. The opposite is situs inversus, where the positions of the organs are forfeited on the abdomen and create a mirror image of what should be present. The position of the abdominal viscery may be important for activities such as surgery, biopsy sampling, and the patient's evaluation of health problems that may be related to the location of organs. This may potentially pose a problem because the organs fit together as pieces of puzzles in Solus situs and random switching of their positions could cause problems. For example, the patient may have difficulty breathing, digestion and other activities.

In a very special form situs ambiguus known as dextrocardy, all organs are in the right place except the heart that moves to the right side of the chest. This can sometimes be described as dextrocardy with situs solitus as a note that all other organs are tAM where they should be. The location of the exchange of organs may be a reason for concern if it disrupts the function of the authorities.

When the organs are placed in Situs solitus, heart, bilobed lungs, spleen, stomach and aorta are located on the left side of the body. Trilobed lungs, gallbladder and liver are placed on the right. These authorities can be seen in a medical imaging study that can allow the doctor to take note of all that may have been migrated from the position. Such studies may be ordered before the operation to learn more about the nature of the injury or the problem and confirm that the organ is a place where the surgeon expects it to be. Otherwise, the surgene could make a cut and meet something unexpected.

The causes of the abnormal location of the organs have to do with errors in the development of the fetus when the budding stem cells cannot migrate into the SITUS SITUSS. It is a complex and detailed process and sometimes errors occur. They will not necessarily predictor can be prevented. In some cases, they are associated with greater health problems, even in some cases abnormalities that may be incompatible with life. Prenatal ultrasound can provide some information about fetal development and can help care providers to prepare for problems that may need treatment shortly after birth.
