What is digastric?
Digastric muscle, also known as Digastricus, is muscles with two abdomen. This muscle is located just below the jaw. The primary function of the digastric muscle is to increase the hyoid bone. Hyoid is a small bone reminiscent of a horseshoe and is located between the thyroid cartilage and the chin. The digastric muscle helps to open the mouth by pressing the jaw or lower jaw.
The digastric muscle is located under the jaw. From there it extends from the structure known as the mastoid process and then travels to the Menti symphysis. The mastoid process is a projection that serves as a point of connection for several facial muscles. Symphysis mentsi is a small ridge found on the outer surface of the jaw. This muscle then becomes a tendon and connects to the bone of the hyoid. The face branch known as the digastric branch is responsible for the nerve supply to this part of the muscle.
The front abdomen of the digastric muscle begins at the bottom of the jaw and moves down and backwards. The trigeminal nerve gives this abdominal muscle through mylohyoid nerve. MylohyoidThe nerve is a branch of the mandibular nerve.
The two abdomen of the digastric muscle ends with a tendon known as the middle tendon. This tendon connects to the Stylohyoideus muscle and is also supplied with a facial nerve. This muscle is associated with a loop body made of fibrous tissue. There are natural variations with the muscle of stylohyoids. In some cases, this muscle may be completely missing and in other patients the muscle may actually be doubled.
As with any other muscle in the body, digastricus may be susceptible to injury. It can be a way of such things as traumatic injury, natural disease or even excessive use. For mild to medium pain or discomfort, application can often be useful to apply to the affected area. Party drugs such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen may also reduce painful symptoms. Depending on the extent of the injury, surgery is sometimes required to repair muscle and surrounding tissues.
