What is an iliotibial tract?
Iliotibial (IT) tract, sometimes known as IT belt, is a long piece of fibrous tissue that runs on the outside of the foot. It starts on the outside of the hip and connects to the outside of the shin below the knee. The purpose of the iliotibial tract is to keep the knee joint during activity. Although tissue is rather than a muscle, the iliotibial tract is often damaged by repeated voltages, a condition known as IT band syndrome. Fascia Lata is a layer of tissue in the thigh that helps to support the leg, and the iliotibial tract provides special support. Due to its length and connection to the knee and hip, the IT belt is important during a series of physical activities.
On the outside of the hip, the iliotibial tract connects to the muscle known as Gluteus Maximus. It is also connected to the fasciae Latae, which is a small muscles on top of the thigh. From there the belt runs alongside the foot and puts on the side or outer side of the tibia.
priThe purpose of the iliotibial tract is to provide support on the outside of the knee. It also helps in the elongation of the knee, which is when the knee straightens, and the kidnapping of the hip where the hip is moved to the side. These movements are common everyday activities and can therefore be susceptible to injury.
common injury is the IT syndrome that occurs when part of the iliotibial tract becomes inflamed and painful. This often occurs as a result of activities such as running, because the belt sometimes wiped the bones in the knee. Over time, this can cause inflammation. IT zone syndrome can be a frustrating injury because they sometimes recover and can return if the basic problem is not based.
Treatment of inflammation of the iliotibial tract usually begins with rest. Running or similar forms of exertion can worsen injuries and increase the time required to recover. As already mentioned, because the iliotibial tract is not a muscle, it cannot be technically stretched. However, there are exercises that may be useful in strengthening the zone in a similar wayEm. Self massage bands can also help reduce friction.
