What is a hypochondrium?

hypochondrium is the highest part of the abdomen, just below the thoracic or thoracic area. They sit behind the floating ribs, which are the lowest set of human ribs, on both sides of the epigastria. The word hypochondrium is derived from Greek and it means "under the cartilage". Through the center of the body, stretching vertically from the center of the neck down to the weakness, is an imaginary front media line, which is also called the center line because it passes through the center of the thoracic bone called sternum. This line divides the body in half. Horizontally passing through the body, above the navel and under the ribs, is an imaginary transylloric plane that separates the hypochondrium and the epigastrium from the above sections called the lumbar and umbilical areas.

under the navel is another horizontal line called transtubercular plane. This line separates the Iliac and Hypogastrium. The extension of the vertically from the center of the collarbone, which is commonly called collar bones, are two imaginary lines called midclavicular lines. These lines create a central areaand two sides. The center of the central area falls under the front media line.

In the right upper abdominal region is called a true hypochondrium. It is located on the right side of the right midclavicular line above the tranloric plane. The liver is located in this area.

At the top of the abdominal area is the left hypochondrium and is located on the left side of the left midclavicular line above the transylloric plane. Sleen is located in this area. Above the transylloric plane and between right and left hypochondria and midclavicular lines there is an epigastrium where the stomach is located.

Mezitransplyoric plane and transtubercular plane are the right and left lumbar sections and a centrally located umbilical area. The duodenum and ascending large intestine are located in the right lumbar region. Cecum is in the left lumbar region and the small intestine is in the umbilical area.

under the transstebercular plane are the right and left liliac areas withhypogastrium between them. CECUM, also spell -in Caecum, is located in the real Iliak area and connects the ileum with an ascending large intestine. The sigmoid large intestine is located in the left iliakal part and the rectum and the bladder only if they are full, are found in the hypogastrium.
