What is pectoral fascia?

Pectoral fascia is a thin layer of tissue that covers the main and small pectoralis muscles. Its function is to pack two muscles and allow them to glide smoothly when closing the contract. The effects of breast fascia can be clearly seen in the armpit cavity, which is caused by fascia by connection in this area.

The fascia is a thin layer of tissue that is located throughout the human body. It helps to connect muscles, blood vessels and other structures in the body. It also holds parts of the body together, as if they were packed. There are several different layers of fascia, including the surface fascia, which is located at the highest level of tissue, and a deep fascia that is further inside the body. It is assumed that different types of fascia provide a similar function to transmit tension in the muscles throughout the body with a minimum of friction. This is known and the pectoral fascia and is important for the transmission of the pectoral strength. It is also smooth and allows the pectoralis muscle to slightly glide along the surrounding tissue.

There are some who believe that fascia is able to close independently of muscle. In the case of pectoral fascia, this could allow fascia to affect how the muscle behaves and reacts. Whether it is true has not been convincingly proven since 2011.

Pectoral fascia is connected to several bones, including the chest, located in the center of the rib cage, and the collarbone, which is also known as the collar. From there it covers the entire surface pectoralis of the main muscle. At the edge of the pectoralis major, the fascia is divided into two to cover smaller pectoralis muscles.

Although breast muscle fascia is not found on the body surface and, so, can not be seen directly, it is possible to see its effects. When the arms move from the body, the armpits seem to have a small cavity. This is caused by pectoral fascination, which was pulled into a tissue in the armpit that creates a cavity. For this reason, breast fascia is sometimes known as "Suspensory ligament axilly", and the axil refers to the armpits.
