What is pisiform?

pisiform is a bone in a human hand located in the wrist. It is also referred to as lentiform bone. It is part of a bone cluster called Karpus, which includes several other bones such as Triquetrum, Scaphid and Lunate. It is the farthest bone of the carpus and on each hand it is located under the painting finger.

More specifically, where the ulna, which is an inner bone of the forearm that meets the Carpus cluster. The bone is about the size and shape of the pea- pisiform is Latin for the "peas". Although the bone is very small, it is still slightly larger than the smallest bone in the body, the caliper bone located in the ear.

Pisiform is a sesamoid bone, which means it is located in the tendon. In humans, most of the sesamoid bones are in hand, legs or knees and helps to increase flexibility and movement. This bone is unique for other wrist bones in that it does not work with other bones in the joints of Tzapěstí. It seems that its only function is to increase the torque and rotation in the wrist and hands.

Pisiform is rarely broken in hand injury. More often other bones in the carpus and the proximal series are broken in accidents. Pisiform breaks are usually linear fractures and happens most often when the bone is hit directly. The other hand injuries and fractures are usually present when pisiform is broken. This can lead to injury to pisiform bones that are overlooked or improperly diagnosed because they are so rare that they sometimes lack doctors who focus on more common bone breaks.

The effects of bone breaking may be damage to nerves or ligaments in the vicinity. Hand injury can also lead to bone dislocation, although it is also unusual. When the bone is injured or broken, the wrist and the strength of the grip can be made.

Often the spit of this bone, the treatment involves completely release. Leaving the broken bone in the hand usually leads to chronic hand and wrist pain. After the bone isCuts, pain usually disappears and side effects on removal are marginal. While the thickness of the wrist, hand and adhesion is unfavorably performed by removal, the difference between the wrist with or without the bone is usually nominal.
