What is hydrated lime?

Hydrated lime is a type of dry powder made of limestone. It is created by adding water to a quick pre -shift to turn oxides to hydroxides. In combination with water and sand or cement, hydrated lime is most often used to make mortar and plaster. Its chemical name is calcium hydroxide, or ca (OH) 2 .

In the production of hydrated lime, the manufacturer must first make a quick establishment. The rapid sheet is made directly from calcination in the raw limestone by the calculation process and consists of calcium oxide and magnesium oxide. In this process, the limestone is first divided to reduce its size. He then washes and takes over to the furnaces to heat up using the three -step process: preheating, calcinating and cooling. After cooling, the rapid liter is crushed and then adds water to make hydrated lime. Hydrated lime dolomite can be created under normal atmospheric pressure or under high pressure. Different processes produce different percentage of water, calcium and magnesium in the finished lime. InYSOCK Pressure procedures are all magnesium and calcium hydrated, while only part of the magnesium and calcium is hydrated in normal pressure.

There are several classes of hydrated lime. Type S and type SA indicate special highly clean lime and are most often used in mortars. Types N and on indicate normal lime and are not cleaned for use in building materials, but can be used in asphalt and paper production. The type SA and on are aerated lime, so their structure is more porny than their counterparts who are not issued.

hydrated lime are classified according to the amount of water they retain and their maximum air content. Types S keep 85 percent water, n types of 75 percent. Types NA and SA are classified as a maximum air content of 14 percent and types N and with have seven percent air content.

also called Slaked Lime, Hydrated LimeWell, it is a good cheap agent and is waterproof. It is also strongly alkaline, it has a pH of 12.4. For this reason, it can be used to neutralize acid, water and wastewater treatment and soil stabilization. This also means that it causes skin and eyes irritation if it comes into contact with the body, and inhalation of dust can cause health problems. Gloves, eye protection and masks should always be worn when working with hydrated lime and a fast roller.
