What Is Photonics?
Photonics (photonics) is the study of the behavior and application of photons as carriers of information and energy. Photonics and its related technology, that is, photonic technology, has rich connotations and broad application prospects. In the 1970s, with the development of high-speed photography technology, the development, application and improvement of semiconductor lasers, optical communication devices, photodetectors and new materials, photonics came into being. In August 1970, at the 9th International High-Speed Photography Conference held in Camp David, the United States scientist L. Podwater proposed the definition and specification of photonics for the first time. Later, he explained that the use of photons as energy carriers should also belong to the research content of photonics. [1]
