What is a reciprocal movement?

Reciprocation movement refers to any recurring movement in a straight line that includes up and down, side to the side or in and out. This movement can draw water, power machines, cool food and have many other uses. The principle of reciproce of movement controls most of the internal internal combustion engines. Burning energy forces the piston in linear or line of movement in the cylinder. The soil rod is connected to the drive shaft in the position from the center and the piston movement is converted to a rotary movement that can power the vehicle. The piston piston, which returns up and down, repeatedly compresses the fuel, transmits energy to the drive shaft and exhausts the waste gas. The control of the stand and the pinion in many cars consists of a circular gear or pinion, aligned with a straight shaft. Some kind of currency turns, the pinion turns, moves the shaft back and forth and the wheels turn.

Movement can also be up and down. An example is manualpump. The pump handle moves up and down that operates the piston underground at the end of the shaft. Every time the handle is pushed down, the piston is pulled out and creates an intake that draws water from the well. Electrically controlled oil pumps use the same principle, with a rotary electric motor that controls the oscillating arm that drives the pump.

Some steam machines in the 18th century were machines with double action that provided energy in two directions. The piston was centered into a horizontal cylinder and the shaft was connected to the rotary cams on both sides of the piston. One side of the piston was pressurized by steam, while the other side was venting and the process was turned. The reciprocation movement of the shaft was brought to a rotary movement that could power the machines.

gas compressors can be reciprocation systems. In these systems, the compressor shaft is powered by a gas or an electric motor that causes the pistons to move. Many cooling compressors and industrial air compressors use repeated machines because they can provide greater capacity for a given energy requirement versus a rotary compressor.

membrane pumps are repeating machines. On the one hand, a rubber or polymer membrane, which is a solid seal, is mounted a junction rod. The reciprocal movement of the connecting rod pushes the membrane back and forth that draws and drains the liquid. The membrane pumps are commonly used for fluids containing solids such as mud or some corrosive chemicals.
