What are the different types of digital locks?

digital locks use electronics to protect limited entrances and are often installed instead of traditional mechanical key locks. There are several different types of digital locks, each with certain advantages. Magnetic locks use electromagnets to maintain the closed door, while electrical strike locks use solenoid motors to connect the dead end. Common methods of opening digital locks include the use of numeric codes, card keys and biometrics. Opposite the solenoid is installed a second magnet or metal plate. After applying the magnetic field, the door holds firmly closed. Digital magnetic locks are very difficult to physically bypass because there are no mechanical parts. However, if electricity is lost, the magnetic lock may become inactive. As with the standard dead, the electric strike lock screw slides into the door frame when it is connected and prevents the door to open. While traditional dead ends must be rotated manually, locks ELectric strokes use powered solenoid motors to push and pull the screw. This type of digital lock usually remains closed even when electricity is lost.

digital locks can be activated and deactivated in several different ways. One of the most common access methods is the card key. These plastic keys contain a coded magnetic information belt and often occur in modern hotels. The digital code on the card key must match the code programmed to the reader to open the electronic lock. The card keys can be quickly duplicated or changed and are cheap if they are lost.

Numerical codes can also be used to access digital locks. With this method, the keyboard is placed on or near the door. The authorized personnel must enter the correct key sequence to unlock the door. The advantage of a numeric code is that there is no physical key that by should be incorrectly placed or stolen. As with digital card keys, numerical codes can be changed quickly and easily.

Biometrics can also be used to open digital locks. These are unique properties for one individual and may include fingerprints, eye patterns and face structure. The digital biometric lock contains the database of these physical characteristics and is unlocked only if the person can be opened as an authorized user. Biometric digital locks are usually more sophisticated and more expensive than other types, but are usually very safe.
