What is ESD?
Electrostatic discharge (ESD) is the transmission of electrostatic charge between two objects. This is a very fast event that occurs when two objects of different potentials come into direct contact with each other. One of the main causes of equipment failure in the semiconductor industry is the ESD.
The results of charging that one object gets electrons on its surface area negatively charged. The second object loses electrons from its surface area and becomes positive. A small electric shock that you can receive from certain objects occurs when you become triboelectrically charged.
tribelectric charge is a term used for electron transmission resulting from two objects that connect to each other and then separate. This can happen just walking around the room. Different materials you come into contact can cause you to become either positive or negatively charged. A fault may show one or more of the following symptoms: short orBurnout, resistor/metal connecting the leak of intersection and tear of the resistor interface. There are three main categories of prevention or ESD control. One of them is the prevention of accumulation of static charge. Another is a safe distraction of any charge that has been created, while the third is to improve the robustness of the ESD product causing the ESD.
The prevention of the charge works on the theory of elimination of materials that have a higher tendency to accumulate ESD in the workplace. All equipment should be without moving parts that can cause the accumulation as rubber rollers and plastic plugs. The use of ionizers to neutralize newly generated ammunition also prevents building fees.
grounding is one of the most important factors to remove the ESD. For example, in the workplace, there should be only one common land. There should be appropriate provisions for the electrical path of cartridges to the ground. Any pThe wafer that has been created will be scattered by a good grounding system. Everything in the production line, equipment and work tables should be connected to this common ground.
Having one common ground will ensure that everything on the floor in the workplace remains on the same potential. If the workplace has a conductive floor, it should be connected at regular intervals to this common ground. The conductive shoes, along with properly grounded wrists and leg straps, will also bring any fee for common ground. The workplace should also have the staff properly trained in preventive ESD measures. Training should be introduced to inform employees about the Policy of the Company's ESD and a regular audit for compliance with the ESD regulations is necessary.
