Passed away in October 2006
He was named an engineer in 1980, was hired as a senior engineer in 1986, and enjoyed the treatment of a professor-level senior engineer in 1990. At the meeting, Zou Jiahua and other leaders awarded the "China Engineering Design Master" gold medal and certificate. In the Zhongnanhai Ziguang Pavilion, leaders of the State Council including Li Peng, Zhu Rongji, Wu Bangguo, Li Lanqing, Luo Gan, and Zou Jiahua met and posed for a group photo. They reported on the CCTV News Network and the People's Daily the following day.

In 2002, Xu Chi, who was more than a year old, was employed as a technical consultant by the Design Institute. Out of his love for the chemical fiber industry, in addition to asking major technical decisions in the hospital, he devoted himself to the preparation of relevant chemical fiber process standards and regulations, continued to give full play to his residual heat, and determined to "draw a successful conclusion of his life".
In March 2006, he resigned as a consultant due to health reasons, but because of his love for the chemical fiber industry, he was still devoted to the preparation of unfinished standards and specifications about the chemical fiber process. He has been diligent and dedicated throughout his life, working hard and complaining. He has contributed his whole life energy to China's chemical fiber cause.
