What Does a Toymaker Do?
TAKARA, founded in 1955, was formerly known as Sato Sanil Industrial Co., Ltd., and was renamed TAKARA in 1966. In 2006, TAKARA merged with TOMY, another old Japanese toy company. The name of the new company after the merger was TAKARA TOMY.

- In the early 1990s, when Satoh was preparing to retire in peace, Takara entered an era known by employees as the "Dark Empire."
- Satoh's two sons work for him, but the eldest son Hirohisa chases fame and fortune. With his MBA degree in Japan, Hirohisa became the company's CEO in 1994. He set out to make Takara a modern marketing machine and developed a five-step plan to thoroughly analyze potential new products. He trains employees to research markets and work together. He never tried those dangerous ideas, but instead aimed at more predictable halfway things.
- His plans sounded quite reasonable, and in fact Takara did improve considerably in the beginning. But an obstacle lay in front of people-they had little idea to support the launch of a new product. People laughed at the company's plan, ridiculed the so-called legendary idea,
- At least one person accepted the challenge. Seeing the urgent need for the mobile phone market, product manager Masahiko Kajita noticed that no one has done anything with the appearance of the phone. He made several phone models using the image of mackerel and high heels, but when he stood at a crowded crossroads and held them pretending to call someone, a banana in his hand attracted more Eyeballs and laughter.
