- The ACLS charter states that its mission is to promote humanities research in all areas of the humanities and related social sciences, and to maintain and strengthen relationships among academic communities in the United States.
- As an outstanding representative of the American Liberal Arts Scholarship, ACLS has developed and managed numerous special programs that serve regular, individual scholars, and the National Humanities and Social Sciences Scholarship. The main achievement of ACLS is funding and supporting research in the humanities and related social sciences. Other main activities include preparation of research tools, publication of research results, etc. The American National Biography is one of the famous projects. It also includes committees and meetings to stimulate research. ACLS also contributes to language development, such as language training materials, invites international academic conferences to the United States, develops regional research, and creates the United States.
- ACLS conducted surveys on the needs of publications, established publishing services to guide scholars to conduct research at lower cost, and assisted scholars through work-funded projects and direct publishing. The ACLS committee has planned and created magazines such as Speculum and Journal of the History of Ideas, which continue to fund scholarships. Among the ACLS publications, the most well-known are the widely used reference books The Dictionary of American Biography, published in 1921, and The American National Biography, published in 1999 and Its electronic version (2000). In addition, The Dictionary of Scientific Biography contains articles about important scientists from ancient to modern times. His third reference books are The Dictionary of the Middle Ages and the concise edition of The Middle Ages: An Encyclopedia for Students, compiled in 1989. Other publications primarily funded by ACLS include The Works of William James, The Correspondence of William James and The Correspondence of Charles Darwin ) Preparations and continuous publishing.
- With the widespread application of computers and new technologies in the humanities and social sciences, ACLS plays a major role in helping scholars to explore the application effects of new technologies in their research fields. Since 1964, ACLS has developed a new project to reward the use of new and excellent computer technology in humanities research. ACLS also works with scholars to find special ways to apply high-speed computing capabilities of computers to obtain better research tools that meet the traditional needs of scholars, such as bibliographies, indexes, and terminology indexes. From 1984 to 1987, ACLS also opened the Office of Academic Communication and Technology, based in Washington, DC.
- This shows that the Humanities E-Book Collection (HEBook) has a very special status in the main mission of ACLS.

- Overview
- An access control list controls the traffic entering the network. ACLs are usually set on a firewall router or a router connecting two internal networks. When you configure ACLs, you can selectively allow or deny incoming traffic to control access to your network or specific resources on the network.
- You can set ACLs to control the traffic at the second or third layer. MAC ACLs are used for Layer 2 and IP ACLs are used for Layer 3.
- Each ACL contains a set of rules that apply to incoming traffic. Each rule specifies whether the content of a particular domain allows or denies access to the network and applies to one or more domains of the packet.
- The following restrictions apply to restricting the application of ACLs. These limits are determined by different platforms. A maximum of 100 ACLs, and each ACL has a maximum of 9-23 rules. The system does not support MAC ACLs and IP ACLs on the same port. The system only supports setting ACLs for incoming data traffic.
