What Are the Risks of Vomiting after Surgery?

Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) is the most common symptom after surgery. It is affected by various factors such as the type of operation, the duration of the operation, anesthetic drugs and methods, and preoperative anxiety. Most patients develop PONV within 24 hours after surgery, and nausea is apparent before vomiting.
