What is a colloidal goiter?

colloidal goiter, sometimes known as colloidal nodular goiter or endemic goiter, is the thyroid, which has increased due to the lack of iodine. Located on the front of the neck, the thyroid gland creates thyroid hormones that regulate metabolism, affect heart rate, temperature, digestion, energy levels and other body functions. Iodine is necessary in the thyroid gland to produce thyroid hormones and iodine deficiency can cause the gland to increase when trying to increase the production of hormone. Colloidal goiters occur most often in areas where there is small iodine in the soil. This means that food grown in the soil and then consumed by the local population is likely to have a lack of iodine. The colloid Goiter is an example of what is called a simple goiter. Some people can develop another type of simple goiter, known as a sporadic goiter. The hp is usually unknown. In hyperthyroidism, the thyroid gland is too active, while it is insufficient in hypothyroidism. Both diseases are autoimmuneínky where the immune system of the body attacks the thyroid gland. Viral infections and cancer can also cause the thyroid to increase.

Symptoms of colloidal goiter may not develop until the growth is large enough to emerge pressure on nearby structures such as trachea and esophagus. When a trachea or trachea suppresses, a cough and a hoarse voice may experience and in difficult cases can be difficult to breathe. The compression of the esophagus, the tube through which the food reaches the stomach, can cause swallowing problems. Signs of a colloidal goalkeeper can be an apparent swelling in the throat and sometimes, if the spots are raised, the neck veins can become prominent and breathing can be limited.

While colloidal goiters are thyroid swelling around the world, they are rare in many developed countries where iodine is commonly added to food and table salts. Usually an investigation must be carried out to detect accurate causesand any thyroid enlargement. Treatment of colloidal goiters generally involves adding additional iodine to the diet and avoiding foods that disrupt the use of thyroid iodine and indirectly stimulate the growth of glasses. The outlook for someone with a colloidal goiter is usually positive as soon as the treatment is performed.
