What is hemstat?

Hemstat, also known as arterial pliers or haemostatic clamp, is one of the most common tools that surgeons use during surgery. Hemstasures are used to prevent and control veins and arteries. These tools are so vital that they are used in almost every type of surgery and rescuers are also used.

Many surgical techniques and tools were developed hundreds of years before the advent of modern medicine. The use of surgical haemostat dates back to the first century BC, the Roman doctor named Aelius Galenus. While Galenus himself did not use the haemostat pliers, as they are used today, it was he who promoted the concept of using the tool to close a bleeding artery or vessel to be easier to be tied.

Despite this early discovery, this tool was not common until the fifteenth century BC. At the moment, Ambroise Pare, a French surgeon and a barber, developed an instrument that has appointed bec decorbin or Crow's Beak. It was a much rougher version of the tool that is used today, but has been an important step in the development of modern haematuts.

Like the structure as a pair of scissors, the modern haemstat has a few jaws that are used to compress the tissue rather than cutting it like scissors. The straight jaw surface is decorated to improve the adhesion of the tool, and for compressing the tissue ensures a more efficient surface for compressing the tissue.

Hemostat has a suspended joint and a few robust handle, similar to scissors. Another main way in which medical haemstats differ from the scissors is the addition of horned. Ratchet is a toothed rod that is attached to each handle and allows the surgeon to open precisely and close the jaws of the tool. In addition, Ratchet allows the surgeon to hold the jaw in a position without having to maintain a preliminary on the instrument.

haemstats come in a variety of sizes andIn slightly different shapes to meet the requirements of individuals with different hands and size shapes. In addition, different types of haematos may be used depending on the operation requirements. For example, some haemstats have straight jaws, while others have curved jaws and size range between five inches (12.5 cm) to ten inches (25 cm) in length.
