What is the nasal voice?

Nasal voice is a descriptive term giving a speaking voice that has noticeably nasal quality. The quality of the nose is caused by incomplete or weak closure of velum, an anatomical structure located in the back of the mouth, which is used to separate the oral cavity from the nasal cavity. The nose can be a sign of a weak velum, or it can be caused by an anatomical variant that eliminates the ability to fix the velum firmly. It can also be the result of learned speech variation. Nasal speech sounds are sounds made with air moving mouth and nose, or in the technical auditorium, oral and nasal cavities. In English, the vast majority of speech sounds are non-profound, which means they are produced with air flowing through the mouth, but not through the nose. A small subset of the sounds of English nasal speech, which are always produced with the air flowing through the nose), "n" and the sound of "ng", which occurs at the end of words, such as the king.

usualLE, when a person produces a sound of non-profound speech, air flows through the mouth only. If the air permits through the nose during the production of non -wearing speech sounds, the resulting voice is referred to as hypernasal speech or nasal voice repair. This occurs when velum is incomplete closing, which separates the mouth from the nose. Velum is a muscle structure that can be increased to make contact with the back of the neck, also known as the pharynx. Incomplete closure may also occur in cases of cleft palate or when the opening is known as fistulas on the first floor, an anatomical structure on the roof of the mouth.

When the velum is complete, the quality of the nasal speech is eliminated. A person who has a nasal voice will not achieve the closure of velum during speech. There are several reasons why this can happen. Some people are unable to close velum due to genetic variations in anatomy, such as short velum or enlarged pharynx. Others may have a weak velum that cannot be obtained high enough to reach completethe closure. In some cases, partial blocking of the pharynx can make it impossible to achieve closure, and in other cases the person is able to increase velum, but learned to talk to the nasal quality.

Some individuals who have a nasal voice seek therapy to reduce the quality of the nasal language. Nasal voice therapy includes exercise to strengthen velum. Speech prosthesis, which is also referred to as dental boards, can also be used to zoom in to the velption of the pharynx so that the unpleasant velum is necessary less muscular effect.

In some individuals, deviations in the anatomical structure exclude the ability to repair the nose without surgery. Nasal voice surgery may include an attempt to extend the velum so that it can make contact with the back of the neck, or it may include an attempt to bring the walls of the neck directly to the velum to the velum to improve the contact between Vela and Hhana wall. If there is a fistula upstairs, surgery will include the closure of the hole.
