What is a cracked disk?

Ruptored disk, also called a herniated disk or a slipped disk, is when one of the discs sitting between the vertebrae of the lumps of the spine or cracks. These discs consist of a pocket similar to a shell that closes a jelly similar to a core. They keep to pad and absorb shock to the spine and are more susceptible to illness and injury with age. Herno discs can occur anywhere in the spine, but most often occur in the lumbar or lower back area. As a result, they are more susceptible to injury. The injury may be caused by a sudden acute strain on the back, a serious twisted movement or a consistent movement and lifting, which brings the chronic tension to the lower back. As a result, professional drivers and manual workers are particularly susceptible to herniated discs.

The physician usually diagnoses the cracked disk by asking questions about the patient's history and symptoms and performing physical examination. Sometimes the doctor can scan the display of magnetic response (MRI) or scanComputer tomography (CT) to determine the exact location and severity of the cracked disc and exclude other diseases. If there is a suspicion of another condition such as a tumor, doctors can also perform X -rays, blood tests and other tests to explore this option. Herni discs are usually treated in themselves and only require surgery in a small number of serious cases. Doctors usually prescribe medicines to reduce pain and swelling, light activity for muscle creation that promote their backs and help prevent further injury.

The symptoms of a cracked disk may range from severe pain to any pain depending on the site. If the hernified disc does not push the nerve, it does not have to crejedl any pain, but if the disc is putting pressure on the nerve, it can result in numbness or pain. If a sliding disk is on the neck, pain or insensitivity may be felt in the shoulders, chest or arms. At the bottom of the back can cause pain, dullness and/or tingling fromButtocks, down the leg and ankle and leg. In this case, back pain may also be experience, though not as seriously as in the leg.

In a serious case called Cauda Equin syndrome, muscle pain and intestinal control are loss. Cauda Equin syndrome occurs when Cauda Equin is disrupted or deactivated. This can have several causes, one of which is the pressure from the cracked disc in the lumbar spine. Cauda horse syndrome occurs only in one to fifteen percent of patients with a herniated disc and usually requires surgical decompression. If the onset of the syndrome is very sudden and acute, it is considered to be a medical emergency and doctors often perform surgical decompression within forty -eight hours to avoid permanent neurological damage.
