What is the sponge of the nails?

The

nail fungus indicates nail infection that occurs due to the presence of parasitic fungi called dermatophytes. This condition usually begins with infection in or under the nail of one finger and spreads quickly to other nails, including injections of the opposite hand. Despite the name, however, the fungus of the nail is not limited to affecting only nails. In fact, the fungus can also stay in the nails. For this reason, the fungus of the nail is sometimes referred to as tinea nails. Mushrooms usually get entering the nail and basic nail beds by means of cuts and small cracks in the skin. However, forms and yeasts such as Candida can also cause nail sponges. These types of infections are referred to as not dermatophytic fungi of the nail and most often occur in tropical areas where temperatures t and high humidity. For example, it is more common in women than in men and occurs more often in people over 60 years. Diabetics and others with endangered immunity can also be exposed to a higher risk of nail mushrooms. In addition, a consistently sweaty legs orFrequent use of public pools or gym, while barefoot can invite fungal infection that can be transferred to nails.

In general, the fungus of the nails is not a serious condition. However, it may have a negative psychological impact because it often causes unsightly coloring and/or deformity of nails. It can also cause a decent amount of pain and discomfort, and if the legs are involved, it can make walking or just wear shoes. In addition, the nail sponge can cause permanent nail damage if it is not treated.

treatment of nail fungus is not equal to immediate medicine. In fact, treatment only provides temporary relief until the entire nail is able to grow and replaced with a new, healthy nail, which is a process that takes anywhere from 6 to 12 months. This is because the same mechanisms that protect the nail bed also provide safe refuge for the invasive sponge. However, the infection may be successfully removed in the case of persistent treatment.

The most common prescription drugs that are given to the treatment of the nail fungus is Lamisil®, which can be taken orally as a tablet or formulated into a cream to be applied to the skin. However, this drug is associated with certain side effects, including potential liver damage when used long -term. However, several natural drugs allegedly help manage nail mushrooms. These include apple cider vinegar, hydrogen peroxide or essential oil of tea tree on infected areas.
