What is folliculitis?
Folliculitis is a condition that involves infection of hair follicles. The infection can basically be caused by the introduction of bacteria or fungus into the skin around the hair follicle. In most cases, folliculitis requires little or no attention and will clarify in a short time. Recurrent infections, however, could lead to scarring and development of what is called deep folliculitis.
In most cases, folliculitis appears as a small pimple around the hair follicle base. Pimple will have a white head because it is filled with pus. In very mild cases, the use of soaps and water causes the pimple to disappear and the immune system of the body overcomes a slight infection within a few days. In superficial types of folliculitis, there will be no type of permanent skin damage.
Deep folliculitis is another matter. Along with the infection of follicles that can be seen from the surface, there is also an artaké follicle root infection. Deeper inflammation is often accompanied by a certain degree of pain and causes pacIENT will want to scratch the infected area.
When folliculitis reaches this deeper phase, treatment is needed other than simple hygiene. The first round of treatment may include local cream or ointment containing substances intended for killing bacteria or mushrooms present at the site of inflammation. More serious cases may require the use of oral antibiotics that circulate through the bloodstream and attack the condition from the inside of the body.
In the worst cases of folliculitis, laser treatment may be necessary to prevent the spread of infection. Laser treatment effectively kills follicle and root while killing bacteria and help minimize chances of further scarring. In general, new Follec hair will not grow in the treated area, so hair loss permanently.
While folliculitis may appear anywhere on the body where hair follicles are present, men and women are experiencing a condition on the scalp more often than legsor arms. In addition, men tend to experience mild folliculitis in the area of the face of the face.
