What Is Parathyroid Adenoma?
Parathyroid adenomas are benign tumors composed of primary cells, eosinophils, transitional eosinophils, or a combination. More common in middle-aged and older people, women than men. Adenomas can be either functional or non-functional, with a decline in parathyroid hormone (PTH) levels immediately after functional adenoma resection. This disease is the most common cause of primary hyperparathyroidism.
