What is a tear movie?

Tears is a layer of moisture that covers the eye. Technically, the tear film has three separate layers that cooperate on the fulfillment of a number of functions on the eye surface. People who cannot produce a tear film or cannot maintain this protective layer intact can occur various problems, including dry eye, characterized by excessive eye dryness, which leads to irritation and vision problems. This is followed by a aqueous layer, which is mostly water, and a lipid layer that seals a tear film to prevent moisture loss. Together these three layers protect the eye. Animals with their eyes blink several times sometime for a minute to restore tears and keep it evenly distributed. The cornea is actually slightly irregular, which would lead to a distorted vision. The tear film increases visual clarity. This layer of material also inhibits infections, protects the eye from dust and other irritants of capture and expression, and adds the necessary nutrients and oxygen to the cornea. It also works by continuously moisturizing the eye.

People who experience the lack of tear film may notice that their eyes are dry and their vision is not clear. Sometimes irritation can cause excess tears to produce excess tears, leading to watery eyes. Treatment for dry eyes may include eye drops that replicate tear film to make the eyes comfortable and surgery for extreme cases. Drops are also sometimes needed for people with thin tear film who wear contact lenses, because the eyes can dry without drops.

tears' production and protective film maintenance are usually identified and addresses by an ophthalmologist, a doctor who specializes in eye care. She or he can explore the patient and perform diagnostic tests to learn more about the nature of the problem. Some patients may be assigned to a neurologist if there is a concern that the lack of tears production is related to the problem of one of the nerves that innervate the eye. Some problems are VRrinse, while others may be obtained in response to trauma, illness or environmental and working exposure.
