What is the thoracic cage?
The thoracic cage is also known as a rib cage. It consists of 12 pairs of ribs attached to the back of the body over 12 vertebrae known as the thoracic spine, part of the spine located just below the cervical spine or neck. Protection of vital organs, such as heart, lungs, liver and stomach, is an extremely important function of the thoracic cage.
The upper 10 pairs of ribs are attached to the front or front of the body. When seven pairs turn around the sides on the sides on the front, each rib meets with a thin piece of cartilage, a very hard but flexible tissue. This cartilage extends to the point where it connects to the sternum, commonly referred to as breasts.
Eighth, ninth and 10th steams are also wound around to the front of the body, but the cartilage that connects them to the skin is shared instead of being individual pieces. There is no front attachment of the 11th and 12th pairs of ribs and therefore commonly referred to as "floating" ribs. Illustrations and X -ray front thoracic cages can omitonly part 11. The pair ribs and 12. The couple tends to be so short that it does not show up at all, except for the side or rear view of the body.
The bone cartilage connecting the ribs of the ribs with the chest prevents the composition of the entire thoracic cage from the bone. This is important because breathing depends on the expansion and contraction of the chest and bone cavity is too difficult to allow flexibility in the thoracic cavity that is needed to be able to breathe. The shape of the thoracic cage is referred to as cages because it closes most of the body of the body and the ribs of the ribs create the appearance of sticks similar to those in the cage.
Laypeople should not expect that they will be able to hm steam ribs or cartilage costume that form part of the thoracic cage. Fracture of any part of the ribs can cause extreme discomfort and injury to the organs of the thoracic cavity. For example, automotive accidents can cause a person's chest to be suddenly and very muchThey compressed against the steering wheel, resulting in a fracture of one or more ribs that could stab the heart, lungs, liver or stomach and cause internal bleeding.
