What is backplane?

4 In the rear plane, the series of slots for daughter boards are connected by bus. Each pin in Štěrbina is compared by a bus with a corresponding pin in another slot and so on across the album. In this way, the daughter boards can be inserted and removed and add any functionality they contain to the bus for the backplane of the entire computer. He often lived in the back of the computer cover, where the rails were sometimes used to guide the subsidies to the expansion slots. The first microcomputer, Altair 8800, used such a system. IBM® personnel computers (PC) then took over the industry's standard architecture (ISA), which sat on the board in a similar way.

Due to the different techniques of computer design or specific requirements, backplanesbys created to suit different circumstances. One such method is known as the butterfly plane. In this type of construction, the ports are found on both sides of the aircraft to take other subsidiaries. Backplane either one -sided or butterflyprovides a more stable range of expansion slots than a number of cables that can bend and wear much faster.

There are two main types of backplane; The most common is its slots determined in what is considered a passive configuration. With a passive board, the bus has no additional control mechanisms that direct signals along the bus. The signals are thus controlled by circuits and microchips on the daughter boards, which are inserted into the plane. In the active backsplane, however, there is another microchip on the board or special circuits for monitoring and compensatory signals input and leaving the seat boards.

When used in conjunction with the host plate (SHB), as defined by the specifications of industrial computers (PCI) connecting (PCI) (PICMG), they create components of the basic functioning of the conventional PC motherboard. The central processing unit (CPU), memory and input/output (I/O) are located on separate subsidiess. If they are combined via backplane, they create a work computer and allow changes in hardware configuration by replacing a daughter board.
